About Michael
I am a second-generation Vancouverite and 40 year resident of the west side. I graduated from Magee High School in 1975 and UBC in 1985 with a B. Comm in Economics and Finance, and after my first job delivering prescriptions on my bike for Magee Pharmacy as a boy, I spent 34 rewarding years with BC Tel and TELUS, having a number of different careers there in Sales and Marketing Management, ending as Senior Business Analyst in the Business Solutions division.
My lovely wife Mary and I are currently living in Kitsilano and we have 3 wonderful children, Samantha, Chris, and Dan who we are very proud of. In our leisure time we love to travel and really, really like spending time in Europe, particularly Paris and Tuscany (although anywhere in France and Italy will do!). When I am home, I am an avid cyclist, photographer, cook, and more than a bit of a techno-geek.
I believe that our communities are only as strong as we make them, and I volunteer as much time as I can. Currently I am on the Board of Directors of the Vancouver Dyslexia Learning Centre for Children, and I spent 8 years at the Vancouver Crisis Centre on the call-in lines and training other volunteers.
It's sometimes hard to convey who you really are in a few lines, but the values that I like to think I live by are integrity and caring. I care about my family, my friends, my clients, and the community that we all share, and do my best to ensure that everything I do reflects that - and that I approach every person and all situations, whether business or personal with honesty and integrity. People describe me as happy and optimistic, and perhaps that's why!
